Cosmetic Surgery Aftercare

Once you schedule surgery, it’s common to wonder who will take care of you during your recovery. Dr. Bucko wants to make sure that you have a reliable friend or family member that can stay with you the first few nights to make sure you’re getting the care and attention that you need while you heal. You’ll also need someone to drive you to and from your first few appointments.

Depending on which procedures you have done, you may benefit from using an aftercare provider who is trained to take care of patients who undergo surgical cosmetic procedures. Aftercare providers know exactly what to expect in the healing process from a wide variety of procedures and often think of ways to ensure your comfort before you even know what you need.

You may benefit from using an aftercare provider if:

  • You want someone other than a friend or family member to take care of you the first night after surgery, or at any other point during the initial healing period
  • You need someone to take you to and from your one-day post-op appointment
  • You live alone
  • You are coming from out-of-town
  • Based on your surgical plan, Dr. Bucko recommends that you arrange for extra care
  • You want the most attentive medical recovery care possible

Dr. Bucko’s goal is that you experience maximum comfort and assurance during your time of healing, which is why he recommends using Reliable Recovery, a team of experienced, professional caregivers under the direction of Paulla Weddle. Paulla is a well-known aftercare provider here in Southern California and comes highly recommended by Dr. Bucko, his peers and hundreds of patients like you.

Here’s what some of Dr. Bucko’s patients had to say about Reliable Recovery:

“My Reliable Recovery caregiver was fabulous. She was worth every penny (and more). I can’t even imagine what my first night would have been like without her. She anticipated my every need. I never had to ask for anything.”— Marilyn V.

“I appreciated all that she did for me and for the great care during my recovery. I could not have made it through the first night without her! It was amazing how she got up and checked on me through the night and provided all that I needed so that I could just lay there and try to get better.”— Janelle W.

“She made me feel very comfortable, secure, and safe. She was organized, professional, and caring.”— Patricia R.

Paulla and her team are available to take care of you in your home or at a hotel. Dr. Bucko recommends staying at the Marriott Residence Inn® La Jolla, which features suites designed to make you feel right at home. Should you decide to stay in the hotel, you can take advantage of a preferred rate and stay as many nights as you’d like.

Looking for another option for care?

For over twenty years, Dr. Bucko’s privileges with Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla has allowed him to use and recommend their recovery program. With the Outpatient Plastic Surgery Program, you can stay overnight at the hospital in the care of a professional nursing team. You’ll be transported by ambulance from the surgery center to the hospital and admitted to a private room. There you’ll have all the recovery accommodations you need and you’re pain will be managed so you’ll be kept comfortable. While still in the hospital, you’ll be seen by Dr. Bucko for your one-day post-operative appointment. At that time you may decide to stay another night or will be discharged to go home or to a hotel to continue recovery with a friend, family member or aftercare provider.
