Overview
As you age, you tend to lose volume in your face or your facial volume may be affected by gravity and “shift”. In addition the natural support system to your skin: collagen, elastin and many other essentials break down which results in wrinkles and loss of elasticity. This can be especially bothersome around the mouth area causing lip lines, or cheek folds. In addition, you may notice hollowing in your upper cheek area or under eyes as volume in your face is lost or falls prone to gravity. Restylane™, Juvederm™ and Perlane™ are all FDA approved products which are safe and effective at filling wrinkles, folds and hollowing. When injected into the skin, they will help restore fullness to the skin-correcting moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane™ and Juvederm™ can also be injected into the lip area to provide a fuller, more attractive appearance.
You are a candidate for Restylane™, Juvederm™, and Perlane™
• You have folds from the corners of your nose down to corners of your mouth, sometimes referred to as smile lines or “parentheses”
• You have folds from the corners of your mouth down to your chin, sometimes referred to as “marionette lines”
• You have hollows under your eyes, sometimes causing dark circles
• Your appearance could be enhanced with additional volume in your cheek area.
• You have thin lips and want to enhance your lips, or diminish lines around your lips.
• You are not pregnant or lactating
How the procedure is performed:
• We will provide you with a topical numbing product 30-45 minutes before your procedure
• 45-60 minute treatment with our Registered Nurse or Dr. Bucko
• Each product is injected in small amounts into the skin by a thin needle
• An icepack may be given to help prevent bruising/swelling
Recovery:
• Avoid facials, skin treatments, skin irritants, including tanning, waxing, or exercise for 24 hours following your scheduled treatment; avoid skin peels until fully healed, usually about 1 week
• Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements and alcohol 2 days after treatment, as they cause increase your chances of bruising and swelling
• Side effects (redness, swelling, bruising) typically resolve within a few days; optimal results usually occur at two weeks following treatment – we recommend you schedule these treatments around work or social events accordingly
