Overview

As your skin loses elasticity which can cause unwanted wrinkles and folds in your face. Artefill is the first and only FDA-approved permanent wrinkle filler which can correct the specific wrinkles or folds which lead from your mouth to your nose. (Nasolabial Folds)

You are a candidate for Artefill if:

• You are bothered by deep folds around your mouth
• You have tried at least one of the “temporary” fillers and liked the results
• You have had the necessary skin test and consult with Dr. Bucko; must wait at least 30 days after skin test before having treatment
• You are not pregnant or lactating

How the procedure is performed:

• 45 minutes in the office with Dr. Bucko
• A topical anesthetic is given to apply about 30 minutes prior to treatment
• The product is injected into the area through a small needle
• Dr. Bucko will perform an initial treatment, then a touch-up treatment about 2 weeks after to ensure optimal correction
• An ice pack may be given to help reduce bruising/swelling

Recovery:

• Avoid facials, skin treatments, skin irritants, including tanning, waxing, or exercise for 24 hours following your scheduled treatment; avoid skin peels until fully healed, usually about 1 week
• Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements and alcohol 2 days after treatment, as they may increase your chances of bruising and swelling
• Side effects (redness, swelling, bruising) typically resolve within a few days- we recommend you schedule your injectables around work or social events accordingly
